Stripping a neck...
 

Just got a used Strat that is in great shape and plays well. The only problem is that a kid went to town on the back of the neck with a silver Sharpie. There's nothing else wrong with it. I don't think there's another way to remove that other than sanding it off. My question is what grit should I use to strip it clean and what should I use to resell the neck after I'm done. Thanks for the info!

Sharpie comes off really easily with some 70%+ rubbing alcohol.
