| Suddenly got this strange sound on open G...

I just got this wierd slightly chorused/metallic sound when I play my G string open on my fretless...I was just playing then suddenly it started not ringing out properly and I'm getting this strange noise like its catching on something...please help! (oh yeah - "fretted" notes all sound fine...its just the open G)
