Suggestions for converting a bass to EADGC nut

What are the common ways people convert their nut to accomodate EADGC tuning? Are there any replacement nuts that are easily available? Or any known luthiers that often make custom nuts?

Not enough information here. Are you converting a five string nut from BEADG to EADGC? Or a four string nut to a five string? Or a six to a five? If the task is to add or subtract a string, forget it. Start with a new blank and lay it out properly. It is far easier to do.

All nuts save the slotted molded plastic types are custom. Fitted correctly, factory slotted are semi-custom.

If some one is a luthier, they make custom nuts all the time.

If you're converting from BEADG to EADGC on a five string, you shouldn't need to do anything to the nut. The bridge saddles will need to move about 1/8" forward (set the B saddle in-line with the current E saddle and so forth for the others). Do normal set up/intonation tweaks for changing type or gauge of strings as necessary.

Adding or dropping a string is more complicated than just the nut.

mech right, most well made $350 and up (internet store price not list) fivers can be strung EADGC or EADGB with no change to the nut. Converting a four string to as fiver however requires more then a new nut. It also requires a neck made rigid enough to tolerate the additional strings pull, and of course new pups. Good luck finding anything other then blade pups that will have pole peices done that can accomodate the five very closely placed strings. Plus new bridge. Good luck finding one that can accomodate the very narrow string spaceing.
