Switching continuosly from Eb to E standard tuning

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey

I have a 34" scale length 5 string bass tuned E-C . When I play with my band I play in Eb tuning .

But I often practice at home in standard and I'm constantly switching between the two .

And I do this usually without adjusting the truss rod or the bridge saddle height .

Is this ok ?

Thanks , Vibhas

Should be fine. Annoying, but fine.

Try a capo?

It's just a half-step. You probably put more stress on the neck when you pick it up by the neck.

Necks are rugged - not made of glass.

I switched between drop C# to standard on a weekly basis for about 18 months. No neck issues.

The temperature/humidity changes between day and night probably put more stress on the neck than a temporary detuning will.
