Question SX fretless neck

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone have experience with this replacement Jazz neck? http://www.rondomusic.com/product858.html

I'm thinking of trying one on my MIM Jazz.

Thanks.

I had a fretted one and it fit my MIJ fender body fine.

I noticed the dots are not on the lines though, which would really screw me up on fretless.

I have a Team/SX fretless neck and it is horrible. Mine doesn't have the blocks. Looks great, barely usable. Uneven fingerboard means buzz city at certain notes unless the action is ridiculously high. Sounds great though. You're better off tracking down a used neck - I think I saw one here recently on the forsale board from a MIM Jazz Bass.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I looked at some licensed Fender fretless necks but they cost as much as the VM fretless Squire by themselves! Maybe I'll find a deal if I can be patient.

Cool

My experience is anecdotal. Others have had good experience. Blocks on a fretless neck is kind of wacky to me.

i dont know about that neck, but i have an sx fretless j (rosewood board). it was pretty nice out of the box, but needed a little dressing. it plays really nicely now, and sounds good--- probably at least partially due to the thickness of the thing.
agreed about the blocks. the inlayed fret lines were large contributors to the attention my neck needed. seems like the blocks could be weird, not to mention how they might wear. what are the sx blocks made of?
also, i wet sanded the back of the neck to 1500 grit--- the thick glossy poly was pretty sticky.
