I been hearing alot about getting the gloss off of SX necks by rubbing them down with scotch-brite and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how this is done and what kind of scotch-brite to use.

Ive done it, just the big green squares, just make sure you do it evenly for the nice satin finish.

I use the maroon colour pads and they do a good job of taking the gloss off to give you a non sticky finish. 0000 steel wool works just as well too but you have to mask off your pickups to prevent steel wool particles from adhering to them forever. You just rub the length of the neck using moderate pressure taking off all the gloss until no more shiny spots are left. The pads wear out quickly because of the hardness of the finish so get a couple of them.

yeah, I am thinking about doing it to the SX jazz I getting next week but I did not want to screw it up and mess up the neck.
