Tacoma TC neck joint....

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone had the neck off a Tacoma Thunderchief ABG.

It's an oddball design and I'm wanting to shim it but I don't know that the design of the neck joint will permit. Help??

This is a supposedly high quality instrument, and it may have the potential to be a good player. The neck is very nice. Even grain mahogany with a bending type truss rod. Problem is that the action is unplayably high, as it comes from the factory. IMHO a setup before passing judgement is mandatory.

The biggest offender is the nut. I removed a full .032" from the bottom of the nut (appeared to be a Tusque) and it tamed right down.

I am within range of the bone bridge saddles adjustment to get the action that I want.

One more ?: does anyone know the truss rod nut size? Nothing I have seems to fit. I'm thinking a thin walled nut driver but I don't know the size and can't get to it to measure.

Tnx in advance.
