Terrible buzzing and clicking on a brand new bass

Earlier this week I bought a Squier VM jazz after falling in love with it at the store. It sounded great and played many times better than my cheap Yamaha, until the other day that is.

Out of the blue, my E and A strings started making a loud clicking sound when playing any of the first four frets no matter how softly I play. I tried raising the action a little, which helped some on the A, but E was just as bad. Now I can't even lower the action back to where it originally was without creating horrible buzzing all down the E string. Both the clicking and buzz seem to get worse every time I pick it up. I had it professionally set up with a new pair of strings after I bought it and never tried adjusting anything until this all started.

Being new to all this, I don't know what I should try from this point.

truss rod? is your climate damp, cold or hot shifting in extremes? sounds like a neck and not a bridge issue.

I keep it in my room, stable temp and humidity. I had my other bass set up for me near the end of last year and stored the same way with no problems at all, and it's still just fine.
