I'm relatively new to Talkbass, but I've been playing for over 30 years. The Fender set-up link is probably the best set-up advice I have ever read on-line. Carol Kaye always says that intonation is not important on a bass especially if it is a higher end instrument. As much as I love Carol and have learned tons from her, I never agreed with her on intonation. She says to pull back the saddles to get taughtness on the strings, especially if using TI flats that are softer feeling. I just didn't understand that because if I'm playing at the 12th fret and the G is sharp, or the E flat, then it's just not right!!!! How Fender instructs on how to set up the intonation made so much sense I had to redo my StingRay 5. Now it's dead nuts balls accurate at the 12th fret!!!! and even though I play TI flats, they feel no loose or taught than they did before. I'm glad I found this website..........very informational and much more bass oriented than other bass forum sites.
Thank you,
Johnny
