Thanks TB!

Although hanging here gives me a bunch of GAS, TB has also been great for me that it gave me confidence to do much more work on my basses. over the last couple of months, I have gotten pretty good at intonation and trussrod adjustments. I estimate that I have reduced my need for setup techs by 80%, if not more. This evening, I removed the neck from my TBC AP-500M to adjust the trussrod and it now plays like the proverbial butta!

I removed the neck because the space exposed to adjust the trussrod simply is too short to get a standard wrench in the space. A few months ago taking off the neck would have terrified me because I would just assume I would do something wrong. Now, I think I have just fixed a bass well enough that I will likely no longer try to sell it!

I feel ya bro TB and some of the users here have helped me tremd-trem...a lot I was going to sell my old Iby SR400 but decided to keep it around for projects and such. I have defretted, refretted, defretted again, swapped pups and anything else that struck my fancy. And it's still playable. I can work on all my basses now (if I want) I would'nt have done anything like that before TB

+! Exactly! Great Job Doc! Once you get comfortable doing all your own setups - you will never take it to someone else. Its a great feeling.

My experience is different...I assembled my very first bass myself from parts...I gained the confidence to work on my own instruments from the start...what I DIDN'T have was enough knowledge to do a good job at it ...over the years, however, I'm both confident AND competent (the correct combination)...

rock on
