Hi,
I've been a member here for about a year and I just wanted to say thanks to the members here that take time to instruct and discuss all things bass.

I've gone from not knowing much more than the basic mechanics of the instrument, to being able to do a full accurate setup, complete fret level, nut adjust/nut replace, and replace every electronic component and or hardware on my bass's.

I've read and re-read the stickies and stared at the how to photo threads for hours and it's paid off.

All but one of my instruments are budget oriented, and with the skills I've learned here I've been able to remedy every issue with them, with the investment of a little money in tools, and a lot of great help from talkbass. There is no way I could afford to pay to have all the work done, plus when I did use a shop, altho the workmanship was very good, it was somewhat difficult to translate my description of what I wanted into the work being done. Something was getting lost in the translation so to speak.

I've had a blast doing the work too, it's soooo rewarding to do something like adjust the slots in the nut and then play and feel and hear the results. Or to get those frets or action "just so".

If anyone reading this is like me and is interested in tackling this stuff, just read, read read, and then give it a try. You may be surprised at how good the results are.

Thanks again Talkbass!

Exactly our intent here in S&R, and it's always nice to hear success stories.

Cheers!
