Is there a need to adjust the neck when I change string gauge?

I'm going to change the strings from a set of 45-105 to a set of 49-109. Is there a need for me to visit the luthier and ask him to do a proper set-up again? Or can I just swap the strings without harming the neck?

I'd have to go to the luthier because I don't have the tools nor expertise to do it myself.

Going to larger gauge strings will probably mean a truss rod tweak, which is certainly something you can do yourself. But there's also a chance the slots in the nut won't be quite wide enough to accommodate the larger strings. For you, that might mean a trip to your local tech person.

Should be good man. Going from 105 to 109 isn't much. I'd change some stuff if I were going from 105 to 130 and changing tunings etc. for example, but not 109.

Read the Set up Stickies There is a wealth of information posted there. It is not that hard to do. I always do a setup with new strings. I have to set up my Carvin LB75 at least 2 times a year due to just weather changes.
