Thumbrest for Acoustic Bass ?!

Sign in to disble this ad
I would like to have a Thumbrest for my ABG, because it feels more comfortble to me. But I´ve no Idea where to buy such a Thing or if there is something available....

I´m not shure if I want the Fender like Thumbrest...Is there something different?

Any Ideas ?

Thx for your Help.

Without having something made, I'm unaware of anything besides the Fender thumbrest.

I play using the edge of the neck.

+1. That's probably the only way you will end up with exactly what you want. When I first got my ABG, I wanted a thumbrest so I bought one from Fender. I ended up taking it back off after about a week because it really wasn't what I wanted. Since then, I have adapted to floating my thumb. IMO, it has drastically improved my right hand technique. Sometimes things that don't seem to go your way can end up being better in the long run. Good luck.

hey bass shy how did you attatch it, with screws or tape, in my head ive been thinking it would be a bad idea to do it with screws.

I thing thats a good Opinion... Don´t thought about this Point of View. Only thought aout hao it would be more useful to me. But I like yout Opinion and that it could be good fot my right hand technique.

Radio Shack sells stick on rubber feet for electronics. They work great, and aren't permanent. Here is a picture where you can see the 2 I have on my ABG, one near the neck and the other on the bridge side of the soundhole.

Great idea depending how they look, but I figure function over form. Thanks for the idea. I think I can carve a piece of matched wood (bridge) of custom length and position, and attached with double-sided tape that won't screw up the finish. Wouldn't go screws!
