Thunderbird Setup Question

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an Epiphone Thunderbird, that I traded for. But I don't understand the bridge. I don't see how you can have low action w/o changing the bridge. Is this right? If not, how do you lower it?

Same as a guitar tune-o-matic except theres also a rear screw in the middle. Lower all 3. Do not let the bridge tilt forward, better to have it tilt slightly rearward. Lower the two side screws a little then the rear middle one. repeat as needed. Though you could start with the rear middle one then the two side screws instead.

I had a problem with my tbirds action being too high when I had all the screws down as far as they can go, come to find out the little threaded inserts that the bridge screws into can actually slip out of the body some. I didn't notice it at first as it almost looks normal, some gorilla glue fixed that problem, it's something to check just in case.
