| The short answer is no, not without considerable labor.
Maple fingerboards are sprayed with a protective clear coat finish and this finish is often tinted to mimic a vintage, aged color. To lighten the fingerboard you would need to completely remove the finish, fine sand the fingerboard using steel wool or a scotch-brite abrasive, re-spray the fingerboard with several coats of your favorite clear coat, wet sand and buff the fingerboard to the desired gloss, carefully scrape the clear coat off of the tops of the frets (or consider a full fret-level and dress by a good tech), and then polish the frets making sure to mask off the fingerboard you spent so much time finishing.
Or you can just enjoy the current color. |
