Tightening the Tone Knob on a Cirrus BXP

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello. I have a peavey cirrus BXP 4 string. A few days ago, I was turning the tone knob when I found that it is loose. The knob shakes if you giggle it, and you can turn it too far so that it feels if you turn a little more, the knob will fall off. It is extremely annoying, but I see no way to fix it. I opened the electronics panel, but there is no way to do it from there. On my brian moore iguitar, the knobs have a small hole that an allan wrench can be put into and turned to tighten the knob, but no such thing is on the cirrus. Is there a way to fix this by myself?

I opened the electrical panel again, and I see that it is not the knob, but the wired piece inside the bass. When i move the knob, it moves. Is there anyway to tighten this?

The knob secures onto the shaft of the pot, & the pot is secured to the bass or pickguard with a nut 'underneath' the knob. Some knobs, like your iguitar, secure with a set screw while some use friction to keep them on.

You have to get the knob off the & tighten the nut. I don't know of any nice ways to pry up your type of knob.

All I had to do was pull the knob off. Then, I opened the electrical panel, held the pot so I could position in, and then tightened the nut, It was no problem, but I was afraid to mess with the knob because I did not know if that was the way to remove it.
