Tips on Waxing a Warwick?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi there, I was curious to know if any of you warwick owners could give me a brief run through on how to wax my warwick. What parts to wax, which to avoid, what kind of cloth ect.
Any thing would be great.

It depends on the finish of the body. If it is an oil finish then you need to wax the whole body, front and back using a soft cloth to apply, leave on for a few minutes, then a new cloth to buff off. I try to avoid getting the wax on the pups or metalwork but invariable some does and I use cotton buds and toothpicks to remove it. Some people, (me included) wax the back of the neck in the same way, some people find that their skin produces enough natural oil to eliminate the need for this. In any case I would wax the back of the head. Other body finishes may not need waxing. You need to check your manual and/or visit the Warwick website. Happy waxing!!!

First you heat up some wax until it melts. Then you apply it while still hot and immediately lay some cloth over it. Wait till it cools, then rip the cloth off.....

...oh sorry - you asked about waxing a Warwick

All of the wood on the body, avoiding the metal and the plastic bits. I just rub my cloth on the block of wax in my tin (I use briswax, it's difficult to find anything manufacturer specific here) then rub that waxy part of the cloth in a circular motion all over the wood. to begin with I'm generous with a consistent covering of wax, then after covering everything I let it sit for half an hour. (watch your furniture etc that wax is horrible to get off)

After half an hour, I buff and buff and buff to my hearts desire.

If my finish is particularly grimy or dirty then I'll do the above, but with using some 0000 grade wire wool dipped in the wax first, then going on to the cloth.

One thing I do when waxing my Thumb is I wrap saran wrap around the strings to avoid getting it on the pup’s and strings. Works well for me. Congrads on the warwick!
