Tone pot stuck on 78 P Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Im trying to remove the tone pot from the pickguard of my 78 P Bass (first time its ever been removed!) and the nut which tightens a sleeve around the pot shaft wont turn. The whole pot is starting to turn on the pickguard and I cant grip the pot. Im only doing this to replace the damaged pickguard, the original CTS pot is fine and I still want to use it. Any suggestions??

are you trying this with the pickguard removed? you should be able to just hold onto the body of the pot with your hand, and turn the nut with a wrench. you're probably already aware, but if this is the original pickguard, i'd recommend still keeping it, it could be worth money some day :-)
