Angry Toning Knob problems

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an Ibanez SR305DX(EX?)...I don't know the model name but it is a 5 string, and I think all Ibanezes are wired the same.

Well, I have problems with two of my knobs, one of them is to adjust the volume, and the sound will either be there or it won't when I turn it. Lets say I start on volume level 1, and I turn it up to two, I expect it to be louder, but I have no sound at all, try three? still no sound, try four? there's sound, and it goes on and on, and there is also a weird dragging feeling when I turn it that something might be wrong on the inside, though nothing seems to be trying to stop it.

The other knob was a product of my "Gorilla Glue solves every problem I have" stupidity. I had a problem with this knob, and that it would fall off, I would tighten it with an allen wrench after I put it back on, and it would slip right off. So I put gorilla glue inside the knob and slipped it back on. Next morning got up,"Hey, great morning to play my beloved 5 string!". I tried to adjust the knob...and it got stuck and it wouldn't turn for anything, so I went and grabbed the pliers. After I finally got the knob up, I saw a wire and a rod come up through the bass with it and thought "UH OH." Now I need to get the knobs replaced, and probrably with my luck, a new pickup and a humbucker too along with the output jack.

May I ask if anyone knows what to do, a site with a guide for this or have a rough price estimate of what this is gonna cost me if I take it to a local shop?

Thanks.

The dragging feeling sounds like there is some dirt in the knob. There's something you can spray inside to get it turning again smoothly, but I can't think of the name, all I can think of is WD40 lol
