Transplanting a 1985 Fender E-serial P-neck.

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck transplanting a 1985 Fender E-serial MIJ P-neck to a newer MIM or MIA body?
Basically do the holes line up? Is the pocket tight?

Thanks in advance.

Whether the holes line up is irrelevant - you should plan on plugging and re-drilling them. You might get lucky and have them line up, but that's more chance than anything.

Bodies vary in pocket dimensions, so the answer to that part is "depends".
