Trouble with bad fret

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello Guys I am new here. I have been looking for a web site where I can talk about my bass cause despite playing for a while I don't know much...

My Question is everytime I play on the 14th fret I got this horrible noise... When I took it to my local music store and the fixed it but it costed more money any way I can do it by myself.... I think they said I wound the neck too tight.. but I cut the strings as short as possible this time and still have the same problem... Thanks for the help look foward to talking to you guys.

If you have the same problem, it didn't get fixed the first time. I'd take it back and show them what's going on. It's pretty hard from your description to understand the problem. What part of the neck did you wind too tight? Did you cut your strings shorter because you had too many winds on the first time? That wouldn't cause a noise at just the 14th fret.

With enough information, someone here should be able to help. Depending on what the reason for the problem is, you might be able to fix it yourself.
