Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
I bought a Jazz bass Plus V (the one with the Kubicki electronics) and it is missing one of the two string trees. I am having trouble identifying it, and Fender only seems to sell the disc shaped ones.
I would appreciate any input, OR if I can replace these with traditional/other string guides.
Like this one:
Thanks!
Mark

| | | | Hmmmm...my jazz plus IV came with the round tree. I bought it new so there's no doubt it's what the bass came from the factory with. All the other IV's I've seen over the years had the round tree as well.

They may be kind of hard to find, nonetheless.

It looks like if nothing else, I can go to the disc shaped ones.
Thanks again!
Mark

| | | | Good luck finding them. if you run across someone with parts for a plus, I'm looking for a preamp. Mine is fine, but I'd like to have one to put in a conventional J bass.

I wish I could find an owner's manual or name of the originals.

I wrote to Fender for a parts list/diagram. I'll see what comes up, but I may get these in the meantime.
Thanks!

Mark | Please let us know what you get from Fender. All I got with mine (brand new) was a crappy mimeograph page showing a front/back drawing of a generic jazz bass with the various components labeled.

I received a response from Fender BUT The string tree shown in the diagram is the disc shaped one, not the one on the Jazz V that I have. The diagram is a pdf, not sure how to post that, but here is the parts list:
Mark,...
The part number for the string guide is 0021427000. You can order from
any authorized Fender dealer. Attached is the service diagrams,..and the
specs are below.

| | Jinkies! | | Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: PHL/NYC | | | OK, here is Bob's next response:
"Those were discontinued fairly quickly after the basses were introduced, and have not been available since that time,…and they moved to the chrome tree. It was just called a string tree,..it was made of plastic,…and also doubled as a strap button on some instruments. There is not a part number for it."
I then asked if the disc shaped tree on the list will work without modification on the bass. His response:
"Yes,…use the part number I sent you earlier. That was the conversion number. I have a Jazz Bass Plus V,…I traded out the trees in about ’97. The chrome trees are not as tall as the black plastic ones,…and give a better break angle over the nut.
Or you can use P/N 0994913000,…this number includes the mounting screw."
Well, there you have it. end of story.
Mark
