trus rod

i know this might seem like a very dumb question....but how dose the trus rod brake??? cause i think mones is broke but im not sure.... how can i tell?

if it breaks at the anchor you may be able to pull it out of the neck completely. If it breaks at the nut, you'll have a piece of rod with a piece of nut in your hand. If neither of those 2 things happened.. if you try to adjust the rod and it just spins freely for like 20 turnsm the nut might be stripped or the rod might be broken.

Does it rattle when you gently shake the neck? Does it no longer offer resistance when you turn it? Does it not affect the curvature of the neck when you tighten or loosen it?

Moved to Hardware, Setup and Repair.

well when i turn it to far it becomes loose.....then when i turn it back the other way it starts to tighten..

Does it loosen when you turn it to the left and tighten when you turn it to the right?

By cranking on it until it's destroyed. Consider yourself lucky, that you were loosening it.
