Truss rod fun on my new wick doublebuck

This is the bass I just bought from the gallery. Firstly, fantastic shop.

Really nice range of tones from these pickups, with the typical bombproof warwick construction and feel. Seems in very good condition, a nice moist neck and no fret wear. I've got TI jazz flats on this at the moment (does anyone think this is weird? Thinking of going back to rounds for the first time in ages, for this bass) and am loving the bass-boosted, dark sounds I can get - stu zender in 'deeper underground' as an example.

Anyway, had a bit of a problem when I got it back in that the truss rod seemed stuck - massive resistance and creaking when turning either way. I tried loosening with a little bit of 3 in 1 oil in the top, but no dice even after leaving it. I was going to take it back to the guys, but thought I'd give it another try tonight first. So, I loosened all the strings, put my knee on the front of the neck and pulled gently forwards (adding bow) while trying to gently turn the tross rod. Worked a treat!

To conclude:
1. Bass Gallery is awesome.
2. Are jazz flats and a doublebuck a strange combo, and what strings have people had luck with on these instruments?
3. Careful with your truss rod. But sometimes getting a bit physical helps..

Nice axe.
There are no strange combos. If you like it, great. If you think you might try rounds, I suggest DR Sunbeams. They have soft tension like Ti's and they are nickel strings- a little less bright than pure steels.
