Truss Rod issues with Warwick Corvette

Sign in to disble this ad
The previous owner had really light gauge strings on it, but I put on medium gauges after I got it. I recall having a bit of trouble adjusting it at first, but I think I had it under control initially. Now, it needs adjusting again, but the truss rod barely seems to affect the relief of the neck at all. Using the tool provided by Warwick, I can turn the screw thing inside the truss rod cavity (clockwise to tighten it and reduce neck relief) but it doesn't do anything. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Or am I doing something wrong?

How far have you turned it so far? You have the direction correct.

At least 1 1/2 turns in the last 2 days, which sounds dangerous, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't doing anything. I was checking the tuning as I was going and it didn't go sharp at all at any point (as I believe it should). Also, as I turn it, it'll be really loose for like 1/8 of a turn and then it'll get tight, and then loose again.

If it keeps getting loose and then tight I would bet that the rod is stripped. I would take my advice with a grain of salt though because I am not at all an expert on these types of things. I'd take it to a tech.

Once you get it adjusted correctly once I have found the Warwick neck to be extremely stable.

The inside of the nut, where the tool goes, is stripped(rounded) out, probably a result of the previous owner using the wrong tool. If you are lucky, the nut can be replaced.
