Question Truss Rod and neck help

Sign in to disble this ad
Some friend has a problem with his bass, when the bass has no strings in it the neck is straight, but when he puts the strings and tune the bass the neck adopts a curve on the head something like
\_____ not so straighten but you have the idea, I try to adjust it with the truss rod but nothing happens.

What should I do?

Don't do more than a 1/4-turn at a time and let it adapt over night (with tuned strings on).
Remember, turn to the left bows the neck, to the right straightens it.

If it still doesn't work, take it to a bass tech/luthier.

I've tried and the one thing that I find "curious" is that when the strings are off without pressure, the neck stabilizes.

That is because without the strings, there is no tension on the neck. Kinda like unstringing a bow.

Question.....When you adjust the truss rod, is there resistance??

Or does the nut turn easily??

Some necks need a little help by applying pressure to the headstock.

Chack out this link and see if might help you - http://garywillis.com/pages/bass/bas...russrod.html#2
