hey guys you might remeber my old threads about how i totally destroyed my truss rod nut and that a local luthier replaced it with a new one he made himself. well the truss rod nut is kind of weak you know and the luthier advice me to get a proper truss rod nut
but i am not sure of wich will fit my bass + i dont have many places to buy

my bass is squier VM p bass 
the adjustment hole its at the headstock
any help and advice would be apreaciated

|  | Registered User | | Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Fort Collins, Colorado | | | I'd say the way to make sure what will fit your bass is to remove the nut, take it to a hardware store and use their bolts (or test stock - some of them have samples you can use) to match it to the exact size and thread. Then you'll know what you have.

Your bass is a current production model - it will be easy to find one. If nothing else, just contact Fender and order a new one.

Then check with the manufacturer of the truss rod nuts you want. Some of the sites I looked at--I think Stew Mac had the thread # listed for their truss rods and nuts. Once you know what the thread is on the truss rod, contact whomever you buy the nut from and ask if it will match.
Man, this sure is complicated for such a simple thing. |

and i already emalied the luthier with the ebay link so he can tell me if thats the right truss rod nut |

But look, on a practical basis, if you're in Peru, why not just order one of every nut that MIGHT fit, and get them all??? You'll pay very little extra shipping, you'll have a few left over, but you should get one that works and you can go on with life.

but even 7$ is money to me + not many ebay stores ship to peru
on the other hand the luthier just answered and said that did not look like the on i had on my bass.

there is a MIA truss rod nut, but they have the adjustment in the base of the neck, is it the same kind of truss rod nut? |

and the answer was that there wast a way for them to know + the 2 types of truss rod nuts they sell are vintage style |
