I'd say the way to make sure what will fit your bass is to remove the nut, take it to a hardware store and use their bolts (or test stock - some of them have samples you can use) to match it to the exact size and thread. Then you'll know what you have.

I would contact a luthier you can trust, even if you have to ship the bass to get it worked on. Dan Erwline, Mike Lull come to mind for more involved repairs. PAy for them to do it and get it over with.

Sorry about that I didn't realize you were in Peru. Perhaps you can try to correspond with Dan Erlwine via email. The guy is the king of guitar repair, maybe he would be willing to help.

Why don't you email the manufacturer and ask what the size and thread is? they ought to be able to tell you easily. Your bass is a current production model - it will be easy to find one. If nothing else, just contact Fender and order a new one.

You said you gad a new truss rod made for you so I assume you don't have the original in your bass.. Ask the guy who made your new truss rod what thread he used on it. Then check with the manufacturer of the truss rod nuts you want. Some of the sites I looked at--I think Stew Mac had the thread # listed for their truss rods and nuts. Once you know what the thread is on the truss rod, contact whomever you buy the nut from and ask if it will match.

Man, this sure is complicated for such a simple thing.

I can't imagine why Fender can't help - but I'm sure the seller won't be able to. The luthier is a good bet.

But look, on a practical basis, if you're in Peru, why not just order one of every nut that MIGHT fit, and get them all??? You'll pay very little extra shipping, you'll have a few left over, but you should get one that works and you can go on with life.

that could work
but even 7$ is money to me + not many ebay stores ship to peru
on the other hand the luthier just answered and said that did not look like the on i had on my bass.
this one looks like what i am looking for but no shipping to peru

Contact Stewart-MacDonald ... they have all sorts of luthier parts and tools. Tell them what you need, and they'll get you hooked up with it. You can contact them by phone or on line. Good luck.
