| Truss rod weirdness

Hey all.
Own a spector euro four string bass, and enjoy it.
However, the truss rod has been, well, wonky recently. It's very hard to adjust, and every time i tighten it to where I want it, after ten minutes, the neck is back to having too much relief.
What the *#$# is going on with my bass?
