Truss rod woes!

Sign in to disble this ad
So here is my issue, I own a schecter stilleto custom 4 string. This is by far the most tempermental bass I own. I have had multiple setups done per year. This year it has been through about 8 setups.

So i decide I should take things into my own hands and adjust the truss rod myself.

Upon removing the truss rod cover I can see that the hexagonal hole where there allen wrench is normally inserted has been rounded off.

I am certain the actual rod is not broken, is there a way to fix this? My basses action is getting pretty awful and I would like to get my main player back in commision.

Thanks in advance!

That hex-headed fitting is the top of a nut. Remove that nut and replace it. There many threads here discussing various methods of removal. Search for stripped truss rod. You'll find them.

Don't go back to the place you had it adjusted... clearly they don't know what they're doing.
