truss rod wrench for Yamaha BB3000MA

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for the wrench tool for my BB3000MA bass. Couldn't find anything that will fit into this tiny space. It's 8 mm and it's not an allen nut.
Any help will be appreciated!

I looked around and had no luck finding information, and I'm a pretty decent searcher. I'd start emailing Yammy dealers if I were you. Good luck.

If it's not an allen nut, then what is it?

All of my previous 5 Yamaha's have used the same standard allen/hex key. (although the size escapes me).

Do you need one of those little socket wrench doohickies?

I had this issue with my BB1200. Yamaha can get you one, which will have to come from Japan. $42. I thought that was too much for a truss rod wrench.

I suggest you go to your local mom and pop music store; the one that has been there for 20+ years, and has some older guys and ladies working there. I went to mine, and the salesman there had a bin with about 25 old, many unused, truss rod wrenches in it. We found one that worked. He sold it to me for $3. Now granted I lucked out, but give this a try.

He said the wrench that fit also worked on Les Paul guitars. You may want to look into that as well.

Good luck.

It's a truss rod box wrench.

Total pain in the butt. Regular wrenches would fit, but the angle in there is so tight, you need one of these.

Japanese Yamahas usually need one. I guess your Yamahas have come from lesser places.

+1.

The local B&M should always be your first line of defense. Especially when you have repair issues. It is a great way to build a good relationship with them and that can pay dividends in the future when you are looking for players, or repair work, or a deal on some gear. Most stores love to have informed customers. If they don't, find another store.

That's it! that is exactly what I need, 8mm.
Thanks for the information and advices. For now I found a tool that can do the job - I only have to take out the little black plastic (cover?) right near the truss rod for a little more room.

I found the 8 mm to be too small for my BB1200. I hope it fits your BB3000.

You probably won't need to remove the black liner. No problem if you do.

The tool I use now (with removing the black liner) is 8mm and it fits.
In any case, I'll be ordering the wrench soon, either from AllParts or I also found it here: http://wb-inc.net/trussrodwrenches.html
I live in Israel so I hope they'll ship it over.

Thanks again!!
