Sign in to disble this ad
I just purchased a bass off eBay that has a serious rattle inside of the neck (to the point where even the amp picks it up). The trussrod is also maxed to the treble side. I emailed the seller and let him know of the situation.
I've never come across this problem before. My guess is that he or someone else tweaked the rod a little too far breaking it in some fashion.
What would cause this to happen and is it something that can be fixed (and how expensive of a job would it be)?
Thanks!

The return shipping will be a lot cheaper than a replacement truss rod, depending on the bass. If it is maxed out one way, can it be turned the other way?

Perhaps a trussrod nut washer or few would help.

Contacted the seller, he is reluctant to take it back but I am covered under eBay buyer protection. I also offered to pay for return shipping to help the guy out.

Back to the seller--you don't want to step in this.

Sounds a lot like a busted TR, not impossible, but pretty hard to repair.

| | | | If he is reluncetant to take it back then he must know of the issue and that was his reason for dumping it on the bay. Hoping to just get rid of it without lashback. Atleast you are protected with e bay
