The method described above works as long as the diameter increase gained by the tape does not exceed the inside diameter of the finishing washer. Guess how I know. Here's the workaround: Put the washer on the bushing and
then wind the tape onto the bushing. Make sure that the washer is not bound by the tape; it must be able to move.
In addition to improving tone and making your bass good for metal, you won't need your aluminum foil sombrero to deflect space alien radio waves from reaching your tooth fillings when you're playing...guaranteed!
