tuner info

I'm taking part in worldwide movement to mod a bronco, and I was wondering about the size of the tuner holes that the bronco has. Squire's website doesn't say, and my TB search came up empty. I found alot of brand suggestions, but not the size of the hole they are filling. I can't really take my bass apart until I have the parts in hand because then my son would have nothing to play. Any info would be a big help. Thanks!

I'd say leave the tuners alone - the ones on my Bronco work great and hopefully yours do, too. You can do a lot more with the sound by going to Labella Deep Talkin' flats and changing the pickup and pots.

I've tried a Seymour-Duncan Hot Rails pickup in mine and it's good, but I'm going to try a '51 P pickup next.

I have Rotosound Flats on mine now, but my tuners are not working out. They are loose and they rattle around. Looking to put a SD cool rail shortly.

Suggestions:

1) Estimate based on the size of the ferrules.

2) You don't have to tear down the bass to measure. Take one string off. Even keeping the tuner in, you prob'ly can pry the ferrule out of its hole while it's still in place. Measure hole, pop it back in position, keep playing until the new parts arrive.

I do not know Broncos, if they're all the same or what.

Edit: them being loose and rattling makes me hopeful that you'll be able to pop it off and get an accurate measure. GL

I never thought of that, thanks.
