Tuner just broke off!

Holy @#$%!
I was just tuning up my G string on my P bass. I put new Hipshot black tuners on a couple of months ago, and the whole tuning key just broke off! One of the brackets that holds the key on just broke off, and the other bracket is bent! I was not even sharp or anything, in fact I was just coming into tune and SNAP! Any suggestions? I'm obviously going to put the old one back on for now.

Which tuner model are we talking about? Just curious. Anyway, call Jason Ungelich at Hipshot Products and describe the situation. He'll help you out.

BTW, did you notice any increased resistance to tuning prior to the break?

I had just loosened the string and was tuning back up, basically about the same resistance as when you are coming into tune. They are either the black hb7 classics, or hb6c ultralites. I have to dig up my receipt to be sure. They are on a newer Highway-1 P-bass.

Wait a minute. Are these tuners the US Hipshots or the Hipshot Lic'd (imports)? Either way, Hipshot stands behind their product line.

They are the US Hipshots. I called Jason and he said just send it in, no problems. Thanks again for your help Riis.

You're more than welcome. I put Hipshots on all my basses and for good reason. Best product on the market and the service is second-to-none.
