Tuner lubrication

Sign in to disble this ad
I put a set of Hipshot lollypop tuners on my project bass and I noticed they have some kind of clear lube on them from the factory. I seem to remember someone saying tuners should not be lubed back in the day. However, these Hipshots work smooth as butter compared to my two other Fenders with stock keys. Anyone lube their tuners? Vaseline maybe?
