| frankly brother I don't trust eBay so much so if it were ME, I would CALL or Email the guy & ask him directly "are THOSE tuners you are selling (and reference the number!) a drop-in fit"? Drop-in means only one thing: no alteration. However if you receive them and they don't I'd return them and write a note that the guy lied.
I feel strongly about this because on occasion, factory seconds, hassle-filled items, or difficult to unload stuff is sold via eBay. The same brand may be great but the guy got his for 1/2 the cost due to blemishes, or whatever problems.......I would always get the info from the seller and ask him as directly as possible "THOSE that YOU are selling" (do they drop-in or whatever).
If he blows you off don't get 'em. If he acts like "if you know what you're doing" it's no problem and doesn't give you a "yes or no" answer....go elsewhere. You have every right to get a straight answer and not be put down for asking a perfectly straight question. An ethical guy won't have any problem telling the truth.

And YES it's a very easy job IF it's a drop-in fit. Therefore ALL the holes line up and the guitar is simply unstrung, a well-fitting, well made screw driver employed to get those little screws (so there's no messing up the heads) and the tuning unit drops out, new one goes in via the bushings, etc, etc, etc. IF the mounting holes do NOT align then you have an issue due to the possibility of open screw holes being displayed. I would not go that route in any event as it's a new MIJ unit and those are nice....too nice to have a bunch of holes in the back.
