Tuners with 12mm pegholes

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

I want to replace the tuners of my old Aria Pro II. The pegholes in the headstock have a diameter of 12mm. The only tuners I found that fit are the Schaller M4.

I found Hipshot, Gotoh, Grover, Warwick, Duesenberg, Kluson all use 14mm (as their smallest diameter for pegholes).

Did I mis a brand ?

One more question. Each and every shop I checked sells the Schaller M4 sets inline only in chrome or Gold. The black ones come only in 2+2 sets.

I even ordered a set from a shop in France, specifying the type required. I saw the shopkeeper noting the exact reference in his catalogue and he phoned to his distributor in front of me... And they recieved a 2+2 set instead.

I found an Ebay shop that sells "Schaller type" tuners. I ordered a set and recieved a set of "no brand" tuners. The no brand is not a problem (the tuners were cheap), but there are made for a 14mm diameter peghole. I won't name the shop because I don't know what they will do about the problem yet...

Is there a reason why the M4 black inline sets are so difficult to find ?

They may have been a run for a specific headstock, which you don't have? Who knows? You could get two sets and take the four you want, then sell the others.
