Tuners that will fit on Danelectro 63/Longhorn

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Danelectro 63 with a broken tuner, I would just like to order 1 single one, but I have no idea where to look. Don't plan on drilling holes bigger.

I took a look at Danguitars.com, but they only sell 4.

Any help would be apreciated.

EDIT: Would a guitar tuner be large enough to fit a bass string?

The ones on Danguitars.com are just Gotoh compact tuners that you can get elsewhere for half the price. I put them in mine and had to open up the holes. They look like Micky Mouse ears on it too. The guitar ones will not work with bass strings, the hole isn't big enough. Do you need a left or right?

OK, I found it. I looked at one of my old ones and it says Jin-Ho-1 on the back of it. I did a web search and found these. They are guitar tuners. But all the dimensions are the same.

That is what I put in mine. They look huge on the Coke bottle headstock, but they work GREAT. I had to open the holes up a lot! The hole has to be .550 (very odd size) the hole in your head stock now is .385 I'll post a photo later, they look funny but work, and you can remove and reinstall your strings more than twice without the end of the string braking off. That is why I replaced mine. I got sick of throwing away good strings just because they broke off at the tuner. You will also have to re drill the screw hole.

Ironic part is that I already actually had one of those, but I didn't want to drill it out and risk cracking the neck, But i guess i should try!

be very careful, you can split the headstock very easy. They need to be tight in there too. .550 is it. I am a machinist and clamped it in my mill and drilled it with a 1/2 drill bit and then used a off set boring head to take it to .550
