| Tuning a four-string CGDA

I've lately become fond of experimenting a bit with different, not-so-conventional chords (in the sense of a typical jazz band, maybe), so I've given some thought to the idea of tuning my old P-J as a cello, CGDA.
Now, first off I'm interested in whether I should change the string gauges. I've got a mismatched set of BEADGs (45/65/85/105/125) that I was considering for this, but which ones would you suggest for this? Dropping the 105 (E) and using the 125 (B) uptuned to C instead?
