Exclamation Tuning Head Screw fallen out

Sign in to disble this ad
Just today, I have realised as I was putting a new 'G' on my bass guitar, that I am missing the screw which holds the tuning peg onto the headstock. What's the best course of action, and where could I get a replacement? The screw is well and truly lost.

My bass is an Ibanez GSR-180. (I know, crap right?)

Take one of the other ones out and head to the hardware store to find a matching replacement. Easy.

You're welcome. You may find, btw, that the screw came out because the hole is stripped out. In this case, a quick and dirty solution is to break a short piece off of a toothpick, put a little glue on it and stick it in the hole, then drive the screw in.

He means the wood in the hole has been chewed up so that the screw threads cannot bite firmly into the wood and will work loose quickly again.
