Tuning Peg Grommet?

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a bass used, and it's upkeep had been less than acceptable. One thing it is missing is the grommet on the G tuning peg. I was wondering where I could find something like that. Would a new tuning peg come with a new grommet? I have already checked the local music stores and hardware stores, but nothing is quite right. Thanks!

It''s also called a bushing or ferrule, if that helps you search.

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm looking for! On that website, I don't see any sizes listed, and I'm assuming there are different sized bushings... Most of them come on a pack of 6, which I would assume is for a guitar, which making another assumption, would probably be too small for my bass? I'm new to the game, so any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

You're correct in thinking that the 6 pack is for guitar. I think you can only get chrome (nickel) for the bass on this site. I'm personally looking for black ones and haven't found them yet.

They really aren't the easiest things to get your hands on.

I would assume (and shouldn't ) that they are the standard Fender size ferrel/grommet/etc.

What size are you looking for?

I am also looking for black, or perhaps even gold (my hardware is all black, but the bridge is gold). The only problem is that mine are the screw in style, not the press in, and I have yet to see any screw in style bass bushings.. it does seem these things are hard to come by. I wonder if I'll just have to get a whole new tuning peg.. Thanks for your help!

Your profile says you have a Yamaha RBX800a. Is that the bass you need the part for? The tuners on that bass look like Gotoh GB7's. I might have an extra nut and washer for one of those.

That is indeed the bass I need the part for. It looks to me like the previous owner replaced the G tuner, as it looks very different from the other 3 (which I don't really care about), and forgot about the bushing. I think it might be a bit bigger than the other 3 as well. Here are some pictures of the tuner, I know the second pic is terrifying and hurtful, that's why I'm trying to fix it!

If you do have an extra, what would you want for it? Thanks,

I don't want anything for it. Just PM me your address. Those other 3 tuners look a lot like Schallers.
