Tuning peg post has some wobble in it

Sign in to disble this ad
Recently I have noticed that on my E String whenever I go to drop D the string starts to slip and takes for ever to get to a stable pitch. After taking off the string I was looking at the tuning peg and noticed that the post has a lot of wobble in it.

Any suggestions on how to fix this.

Thanks,

George

What kind of tuners do you have? Is there a screw on the bottom? If so, tighten it.

Stock ESP LTD tuners, one screw on the bottom holding the tuner to the body and them the one that covers the post and tightens down.

Hi.

On this thread by steve rolfeca:

Can i tighten sloppy Elephant Ear tuners?

You can find a great pictorial that doesn't necessarily adress your exact problem, but explains how to dismantle and put back together an open gear tuner.
A closed one is exactly the same (usually without the spring though, only the dimensions are smaller and the gears are not as easily accessible.

Edit: OK, it's a closed one then. If You take the string off and push/pull the shaft up and down, is there movement?

Regards
Sam
