Tuning Peg Size Differences

I know different models use different sized tuning pegs, but do the sizes make any difference if you're building a bass from scratch?

If you're building from scratch use what looks good to you that you can afford.

Weight. The Fender style (11/16" holes) tuners tend to weigh more than the Ibby ones (9/16").

And then there's the looks, of course...

It depends on what look you're going for. I think the small 3/8" tuners look like crap on a big Fender headstock. However, the large 1/2" tuners would look odd on a small-headed Ibby.
