Turning large pot shaft holes into smaller ones

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all, I'm putting a new preamp into my Warmoth Jazz. The problem is, the pot shafts on the old preamp were 3/8" (and so the holes in the top of my bass are drilled for that size), and the pot shafts for the new preamp are 1/4". The smaller washers and nuts don't consistently span the gap, and so I end up with crooked knobs when the preamp is installed.

My question is, what (if anything) can I use to buffer the pot shaft holes to make a tight fit around my smaller pot shafts? Thanks all!

you're looking for a bushing, inside diameter (ID) = 1/4 outside diamter (OD) = 3/8

Hey, thanks! Anyone else have any feelings on this... are these bushings the right/best ones? I have zero experience with bushings.

I'm not saying that those are the right ones, but you'd want something like that.

Ah, thank you for clarifying.

Anyone know which bushings (if that is in fact the best route) I should purchase for this job?

any bushing the right size as posted above should work, just make sure theyre nut threaded, thats not what you want. go to a hardware store and ask around a little, if you bring those measurements and the sales person is competent they should be able to help you.
