Twisted neck help.

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, i own a rogue LX500 neck through bass, it is my first bass and has lots of value to me. It playes incredible (for a rogue,) and it is as far as i know, the only bass of its kind in the world. And the problem is, it has a severly twisted neck, and appears to be getting worse. It is a very sever twist, and it is about half of an inch off. as i said, its getting worse. is there a way that it can be fixed? and is it possible that the neck can break? Please help...

Almost anything can be fixed, given a skilled luthier, and enough $$$$...

...the question is: (being a Rogue) how much is it worth, to you, to make it right?

Luthiers I have questioned about major neck repairs have quoted $300...for starters. At the risk of repeating myself: what's it worth to you, to get it right?

ive heard that getting custom gauge strings can help with twists. Ive read that you get a light gauge on the twisted side and a heavy on the other side, and tuning the non twisted side higher and then checking it frequently. that is just one thing ive heard...never tried...
another would be putting a straight covered piece of wood on the fret side and clamping the neck down.

If it's a Rogue bass, you can guarantee that there are at least several thousand others of it (unless it's some prototype that somehow escaped the factory).

If someone else reviewed it, I guess it's not the only one in the planet.

Aaaanyway, you can take it to a guitar tech or luthier OR buy a new bass, which would be the most cost-effective solution.

And it is my first bass. i CANT replace my first bass.
