Twisted Neck on Laklannd 55-94?

Sign in to disble this ad
I think I have a twisted neck on my Lakland 55-94. Here is what's happening with it. I like very little relief on the neck.
I like to have low action. So I keep the neck almost flat.
I have noticed that when I set my neck to this the G side of the neck back bows while the B side of the neck has the relief I like. Basically the G side of the neck is very unbalanced to the B side. The back bow on the G side seems to happen between the 1st and 7th frets. Is there any thing I can do to help this situation? I would hate to have to send it back to Lakland seeing how it is only a couple of weeks old. I bought it new from Bass Central. I have opened to truss rod all the way in hopes of the neck resetting it self but it has not helped. Any advice would be appreiciated. Thanks.

Yes, don't muck around with. Contact Bass Central for assistance. Their service is second-to-none.

JOOC, have you verified this with a straight edge or are you eye-balling it?

I have heard that Lakland is a very good company to deal with regarding repairs. I plan on contacting them. Thanks for the heads up.

are you using a 'standard' set of strings? i ask because i have a friend who used to use light top (.040) and heavy B (.130) for years and he had a neck that developed a twist like this that i suspect might have been at least helped along by his string gauge choice...

you can use the string as a straightedge to verify also if you press down on the first fret and then up higher around the 12th to see how much relief is between the points

anyhow, i'm sure you'll get it sorted out with the help of BC and/or Lakland, good luck

I am using the strings the bass came with. They are Lakland G bass. I believe that they are 45 to 130. I will try that string test you suggested. Thanks.
