Two quick questions...

Sign in to disble this ad
I am going to buy a bass but have two questions first. 1. The bass' 5 way pickup switch is malfunctioning so both pickups are on at all times. Is this an easy fix?

2. The strap buttons are said to be missing, will any strap buttons fit?

Thanks for any help.

1) Depends on the switch. Could be super easy, could be super difficult. What exact bass are you asking about?

2) Strap buttons themselves are not a fit or non-fit, it's the screws that hold them in place that do/don't fit, as well as whether the screw holes were damaged at all. If the screw hole is too large or damaged, you may have to stick one or a few toothpicks in the hole, along with some wood glue, to hold a narrower screw in place. Generally not a problem.

The bass is a Traben Chaos Core. And the holes for the buttons are fine, he just told me the buttons are missing.

OK that switch should be pretty easy to fix, as long as the wiring hasn't been monkeyed with by the previous owner. The only tricky part is if the switch is actually broken, getting the correct replacement switch. Traben might send you one. If the switch isn't broken, then it's just a matter of making sure the wires are all soldered on well, and in their correct places.
