Uneven String Spacing on MIM 50's P

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got a MIM 50's P that I love, but spacing between the A and D strings is much larger than the space between the E and A or D and G. When I look at the nut, I can see that the nut is cut in an uneven fashion. Is it supposed to be like this? I don't know much about nuts (insert joke here ) or string spacing. Do I need my nut replaced or should I take some other form of action?

Thanks!

Is it possible to take/post a pix or two?

If this is as you commented, it may be either broken or just a bad notching job.

Somehow this is odd 'cause if you can see it, it's something anyone who built the guitar part should have noticed at the factory.

Ah, pics would probably be pretty helpful, but the nut is definitely not broken.

That will have to wait until this evening though, because I'm at work.

... I hope I'm not the only one that spends most of the work day glued to TB ...

are the strings spaced evenly at the bridge? you're supposed to move then on those threaded saddles until they are.
