Uneven tone and clipping with Fender J Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all, I've got the Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass, and I love the hell out of it, but lately I've been noticing an annoying problem. First off, the E string is way too loud compared to the other strings, and it clips when all the other strings are sounding great. I can't seem to even out the volume between the G and the E, so would the best solution be to simply lower the pickups on the E string side? Or should I lower the E string to reduce the volume of just that string (if that is how it works, I'm not sure)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try to lower the pickup on the E string side.
