uptuning a 6 or 5 string a semi tone

Now I know alot of you are probably sick of topics like this and one similar but after searching through old topics and reading alot of people having mixed opinions on the subject - it still causes me a concern sadly.

I plan to tune my Ibanez BTB six string up a semi tone up to CFA#D#G#C#. now some amongst you seem to think this means instantly consider a different gauge, or just simply a new set up will cure it. others from old topics seem to believe this wont affect the neck to warp as its only a semi tone and isnt a drastic change.

my main concern is I dont want to change my strings, i love Elixirs and they dont make a lighter set than the ones i am using (032 045 065 085 105 130tw) - and id rather not have a thin B from a different range of bass strings and have the rest as Elixirs.

so this means I've got standard size strings wanting to go tighter than they are meant to - will this mean I will have to adjust the trust rod at all? I am dead set on this tuning and would rather not use cappos or other ways to get around it. cheers in advance gang!

You may have to adjust your truss rod but I doubt it. I wouldn't worry about your strings breaking since I have tuned my G up to a C before (it broke on the way up to C#). They might feel a little tight though.

I say do it, and adjust your truss rod if you need to. Your neck will eventually adjust to the tension over time. You will probably have to redo your setup though.

Just wondering, why do this tuning?
